Five Main Reasons:

You Are In Control

Mediation lets you stay in control of the decisions that affect your children, your money, and your future. Instead of letting a judge decide for you, both parties work with a neutral mediator to reach a fair and practical agreement they can live with.

Mediate In Your Own Language, Not The Court's

Our firm is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and French. The ability to speak freely in your native language ensures that your voice is heard clearly and comfortably, without the added barrier of legal or foreign language constraints.

Flat Fees, Low Costs

In Florida, a contested divorce can easily cost tens of thousands of dollars per spouse and may drag on for months or years. Mediation is designed to resolve the same core issues (parenting time, child support, alimony, and property) much faster and at a significantly lower cost.

Over 25 Years Of Combined Experience

The Legnaro Akl Law Firm has over 25 years of proven expertise and a track record of successful resolutions in our mediations.

Utmost Confidentiality

Mediation is a confidential process. If you settle your divorce in a courtroom, all of the details become a matter of public record. Even the trial is open to the public and anyone can attend. When settled outside of the courtroom, your family's “dirty laundry” remains private.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is mediation right for us?

Mediation is appropriate in most Florida Family Cases where both parties are willing to sit down, share information, and try to reach an agreement, even if they strongly disagree at the start.

Do we need lawyers to mediate?

You can mediate with or without a lawyer present. You can save money by mediating Pro-Se (on your own behalf); you can also choose to consult a lawyer before or after mediation for legal advice and use mediation for problem-solving and negotiation.

How many sessions will we need?

Most low to moderate conflict cases are resolved in one to three sessions of about three hours each. Every case is unique and the number of sessions depends on the number and complexity of issues.

Is what we say during mediation confidential?

Yes. Florida Family Mediation is confidential, with limited exceptions. The mediator is neutral and does not represent either party.
